- Emily Stein's photographs of children blowing bubblegum on beaches around the world are a portrait of the freedom, innocence and joy of youth Shot on film and with a hint of nostalgia, these simple yet playful images of children blowing gum capture the freedom and pleasures of youth. They are also testament to the brilliant eye of Emily Stein, an up and coming London photographer. This is very much an art photography book but the accessible format, price and style makes it part of a highly collectable set of books that crossover towards a more mainstream audience.
Emily Stein started taking photographs in the last term of her Fine Art degree. Never able to concentrate for long enough to finish a painting, she picked up a camera and immediately fell in love with photography. Taking pictures enabled her two great loves: going on adventures and meeting new people. Emily gets hugely excited about light, tone and color and has always been drawn to the boundless energy and honesty of children (and relates to them as she's pretty immature herself). These days she photographs people of all ages, often for commercial clients such as MTV, Vice and Puma, and has a natural gift for capturing their energy and individuality.
