Pulani: A Children's Play of Guahan (Paperback)
This publication is the script used for the 2015 production of Pulani in Guam. Pulani is a fantasy play with music and Chamoru cultural themes. It was originally produced in 1989 at the University of Guam. The story is about a young Chamoru girl who goes on a journey to find someone to teach the traditional knowledge of healing practices, the knowledge of the suruhana. She is accompanied by talking birds, a Duendes, and a deer. They have confrontations with a snake, a rhino beetle, and attacking bushes on their way to Hagat a, on the island of Guahan (Guam). Once there, she has to deal with taotaomonas (ancestral spirits) and an arrogant chief. Eventually, she does find her apprentice, and also learns about life and love in the process.
